Software development in Preston, built around how you work.
Happy Lemon Labs is a software company in Preston, Lancashire. We design, build and support custom software for UK businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets and off-the-shelf tools.
- Custom software developmentSoftware shaped around how you work, not the other way round.
- Application developmentWeb applications, client portals and internal tools your team will actually use.
- Enterprise software developmentLarger, more demanding systems with security, audit trails and scale built in.
- SaaS developmentFrom first idea to paying users, by a team that builds and runs its own SaaS.
- Smart websitesWebsites that do real work: bookings, quotes, logins and automation.
What we build
Most of our software work starts the same way. A business is running on something that nearly fits: a spreadsheet only one person understands, a product that does 70% of the job, or three tools that never quite agree with each other. We replace the workarounds with software shaped around how the business actually runs.
Everything below is built, launched and supported by a UK team. You work with the people doing the work, from the first call to the last release.
- Custom software for the jobs nothing off the shelf does properly
- Web and mobile applications, client portals and internal tools
- Enterprise-grade systems with the security and audit trails larger organisations expect
- SaaS platforms, from first idea to paying users
- Smart websites that do real work: bookings, quotes, logins and automation
Why work with a software company in Preston
We are based at Crooklands Mill in Preston and work with businesses across Lancashire, Cumbria and the West Midlands, plus UK clients remotely. Being local means we can meet, walk through how your team works and sit next to the people who will use the system. When distance matters, we work over video and keep the cadence the same.
We also run our own software. ReviewSync has been live since February 2026 and FileFi launches in October 2026. We know what it takes to keep software working after launch, and that shapes how we build for clients.
How a project runs
Every project follows the same four steps. We listen first, then write a discovery proposal with indicative costs and timeframes. If you go ahead, the proposal fee comes off the project cost. We build in short sprints that each end with a demo and working software, then stay on hand to support and improve what we have built. You can see the full detail on our pricing and process page.
Questions we get asked
What does a software company in Preston actually do?
We build software for businesses: custom applications, internal tools, SaaS products, integrations and automation. We act as your product owner, project lead and developers, so you do not need your own tech team.
Do you only work with businesses in Preston?
No. We are based in Preston and work with businesses across Lancashire, Cumbria and the West Midlands, and with UK clients remotely.
How do we get started?
Book a discovery call. We listen first, then put together a discovery proposal with indicative costs and timeframes before anything is built.
Can you improve software we already have?
Yes. We regularly refactor and modernise older systems, add features, or connect them to the rest of your tools. See our custom software page.
